Monica Leiter joined Meltzer Lippe in 2009 as an associate in the Litigation group. Her legal experience includes defending securities fraud, products liability and commercial litigation cases. She has experience conducting internal investigations as well as representing individuals and companies in connection with investigations brought by the United States Attorney's Office, the Securities and Exchange Commission, the NASD, and FINRA.
Prior to joining the firm, Monica was a litigation associate at the law firm Goodwin Procter LLP, where she was a member of the white collar crime/government investigations and products liability defense practice areas. Monica also worked as a Special Assistant District Attorney at the Brooklyn District Attorney's Office as part of the Partners in Prosecution program.
Monica graduated from Rosemont College, summa cum laude, in 1999 with a Bachelor of Arts in English. She received a Masters degree in Public Health from Boston University, School of Public Health, in 2000 with a concentration in health law. Monica earned her Juris Doctorate from Boston College Law School, magna cum laude, in 2003. During law school, Monica served as solicitations editor for the Boston College Law Review.
Monica is admitted to practice before New York and Massachusetts state courts as well as the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. She is a member of the New York City Bar Association and the Nassau County Bar Association.
